How do you get Jet fuel smell out of your clothes and off your skin?

I took a Jet-A shower today. I've gotten it on me before, but today I probably soaked up half a gallon when I opened a fuel panel that wasn't quite empty. I have taken a shower, and still stink. I just pulled all of my clothes out of the washer and they still stink too. (I use Tide).

Any suggestions? How do you get Jet fuel smell out of your clothes and off your skin?
Try bilge cleaner get it from any boat shop I have used it before on my clothes it emulsifies fuel/oil and works quite well for me , mix a solution in a bucket and soak your clothes in it for a few minuets then wash a normal. As for you well instead of soap or body wash use hair shampoo for oily hair this will get most of the smell off repeat as needed.

Good luck I know Jet-A is not the most pleasant smell to live withHow do you get Jet fuel smell out of your clothes and off your skin?
Why would you want to? [grin]

But seriously, I don't know about skin except as stated, to shower repeatedly. As far as clothes go, not sure if you can purchase this product where you are, but NapiSan Ultra is gold. I've managed to remove all kinds of hideous stenches, petroleum-based and otherwise, from various kinds of fabric including Cordura by soaking overnight in a solution of this stuff. Without looking at the active ingredients, I couldn't tell you why, but I can experientially vouch for its effectiveness.

If this is something that happens to you repeatedly in your line of work, message me and I'll be happy to send you a batch. It's not expensive.
Well, my hubby comes home smelling like jet fuel (love it haha)

For the clothes, you might have to run them through two cycles in the wash...if you have Baking Soda or BORAX add a good cup of either, along with your detergent and use the warmest water that your clothes will allow.

As for your skin, you can actually use the baking soda on your skin and it seems to help, but you still might have to take a couple extra showers.

Good luck
drink lots of water. It has soaked into your skin and your body will need to flush it out.

If you put wet jet fuel soaked clothes in the washer and fill it with tide you have a bomb.

We used to wash our own rags at the shop until we had an explosion. Just the spark from the switch when closing the lid blew the top off the washer and started the corner of the building on fire. The guy closing the lid spent a couple days in the hospital.

Make sure the clothes are dry before washing.
For hydraulic fluid and fuel I had the best luck with LAVA soap. Not that stuff in a can, but the bar. It will take off the first layer of skin, but it works. SIDE NOTE: Do not try to wash the tainted clothes with anything else. You will not like the results.
A match?..

OK, kidding aside, dry cleaning for clothes and 10 showers in a row for you.
Murphy's Oil Soap
