I have been wanting to know this for a long time. Is it the soap, towel, shower water, or the air that you come in contact with after you shower? Please answer this question. I know this question might be dumb but please serious answers only. What makes you ';ashy'; or have dry skin after you come out of the shower?
The ashy colouring comes from the heat of the water causing your arteries and veins to dilate. The blue colouring of the veins shows through the skin as they become larger.
The dry skin is caused when the temperature of the water has a large disparity to the room temperature. If you start your shower with a cooler water and gradually increase the temperature to a comfortable level without making your skin redden, then the dry skin issue will lessen and perhaps even go away. You can also aid your skin's recovery by using a good scrub in the shower and a good moisturizer just after getting out. Also, do not rub your skin with the towel. This causes more dry skin. Gently pat your skin with the towel. It blots up the water without roughing up the ';cuticle'; of the skin. What makes you ';ashy'; or have dry skin after you come out of the shower?
Well water is moisture, but water also evaporates. That leaves you with what? Dry skin.
