Is a shower filter best for the skin and hair?

I heard about the harsh chlorine in the water that negatively affects the texture of the hair and skin.

Is this true and will a filter in the shower improve the quality of my skin and hair?

What are the pro's and con's of having a shower filter? Is a shower filter best for the skin and hair?
I'm a firm believer that chlorine is bad.

I'd recommend a shower filter just to avoid the stuff.

A shot of freshly juiced carrot/apple juice each morning does wonders for the skin as well. :)Is a shower filter best for the skin and hair?
I saw a segment of This Old House and they talked about this. The filter takes out the impurities that could damage your hair and skin. The disadvantage is that you will have to begin changing filters when you hadn't had to before.

I have begun to price them myself.
