A few days ago I had some tenderness on the right side of my neck. When I went to rub it I found three small pellet sized knots where the tenderness was located. The pain is now consent and spreading. I went to the doctor yesterday and found out I had a medium sized patch of shingles on the right side of my chest. I was wondering if they could be related. When I asked the doctor about the knots she said as long as I felt pain there was nothing to worry about. I was not comforted. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. What are these little lumps under my skin on my neck?
they are lymph nodes. they enlarge and can become tender during infections. Your shingles might be the reasons why these lymph nodes enlarged and became tender.
people have lymph nodes in many place in the body, but you don't normally feel/see them, till something makes then enlarged.
Infections and cancer are two main reasons for enlarged lymph nodes. But, cancer does not cause the lymph nodes to be tender. This is why your doctor told you not to worry as long as it is painful. Infection cause lymph nodes to be large and painful.
hope this helps. What are these little lumps under my skin on my neck?
You know when you feel pain, but sometimes it's a good sign, like when your out in the cold and you're worried about frostbite and then someone steps on your foot and it hurts. That means you don't have complete frostbite cause you can feel some pain.
Well I don't know much about shingles but if it's more to do with skin, I'd see a dermatologist. It would probably not be related to knots that form on your neck from stress. Get someone to rub them with their thumb in small, little circles. My mom did that when I had knots and it really made a difference.
Hope you feel better!
